By forgiving you choose to let go of resentments which can relieve stress and contribute to healthier relationships.
urthermore, forgiveness does not mean approval of past behavior, but rather a decision not to allow it to continue to harm your emotional life.
It is a demonstration of inner strength and resilience.
Forgiving brings inner peace, promotes personal growth and helps to overcome conflicts. The greater benefit is for the person who forgives, much more than for the person who is forgiven.
